PROJECT / PORTFOLIO
01 / OVERVIEW
The Arcade Runner is a promotional game originally developed for Radio Teddy live events. Designed for young children, the game combines accessible arcade gameplay with physical interaction. Initially controlled using custom Cat Door Trackers, the setup was later upgraded to use an L-TEK dance station controller.
Players guide Teddy through obstacle-filled levels, avoiding or jumping over obstacles while collecting musical notes. The game features three levels with increasing difficulty, offering a simple but engaging experience for live event environments.
The original game concept was subsequently adapted into several promotional variations, including a rebranded version for Frank & Seine Freunde featuring its own characters, as well as a soccer-themed edition with additional gameplay features.

05 / DEVELOPMENT
The game was developed in Unity, with responsibility for the complete gameplay programming and much of the 3D content creation.
Character Creation
For this project, I completed the entire 3D character pipeline for the first time, including modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, rigging, and animation. The main character, Teddy, went through several iterations before reaching its final appearance.
Gameplay and Level Design
I programmed the complete gameplay, including player movement, obstacle interactions, jumping, and collectible items. The three levels were created using Unity Terrain, with increasing difficulty to provide progression throughout the experience.
Additional Assets and Effects
Beyond the main character, I created additional 3D assets, including the White House and Radio House models. I also produced custom 2D skybox textures, particle effects, and recorded voice effects for Teddy.
Performance Optimization
One of the main technical challenges was the target hardware. The game had to run on standard event PCs without dedicated graphics cards. This required performance optimization to ensure smooth gameplay on relatively limited hardware.
Promotional Variations
Following the original Radio Teddy version, the game concept was adapted for other promotional projects. The Frank & Seine Freunde edition introduced a new visual identity and its own characters, while the soccer-themed variation expanded the gameplay with additional features.
These adaptations required extending and modifying the original game to accommodate different themes and requirements while retaining its accessible arcade gameplay.
